The chamber music duo Orduz-Garcia was founded in 2012 by pianist Ana María Orduz and clarinetist Jose García-Taborda with the purpose of researching, rescuing and broadcasting the musical heritage of Latin America. Orduz-Garcia is also interested in creating new repertoire and often commissions new music by emerging composers.
The duo Orduz-Garcia has performed in the Festival Internacional de Clarinete de Bogotá 2012 and 2013, Festival Internacional de Clarinete y Saxofón Clarisax de Medellín 2012 and 2013, IV and V Festival Jorge Hernando Montoya, in Teatro Lido, Teatrico, Casa Blanca, Casa Teatro el Poblado, Bellas Artes, Cámara de Comercio, Biblioteca de Belén, Yamaha Musical, and MUUA UdeA in Medellín, Teatro Colón – Bogotá, Museo Maja - Jericó, Universidad del Cauca – Popayán, UNAB – Bucaramanga, Duquesne University - Pittsburgh and Memphis University - Memphis, International Clarinet Festival 2016 in Lawrence - Kansas and in New York City. ¨Portraits of Colombia¨, their first CD, can be found in 28 digital stores such as iTunes, Deezer and on Amazon. It has received excellent reviews from critics.
Colombian pianist Ana Marìa Orduz-Espinal has been the recipient of many awards and scholarships, including first place in the Città di Padova international competition (Italia) with the Betancur-Orduz piano duo and the concerto competition at the University of Memphis (USA). She has been awarded several scholarships such as the Berl Olswanger, the Herbert Herman Memorial, the Carolina Oramas from Icetex, the Beethoven’s Club, the Cartagena’s International Music Festival, grants form the Colombian government and the University of Iowa Research Fellowship among others. Dr. Orduz was also awarded full scholarships to obtain her undergraduate at the University of Memphis where she graduated Suma Cum Laude, to obtain her Masters and Doctorate degrees at the University of Iowa, to attend the piano summer program at Chautauqua Institution four times and the Mammoth Lakes summer music program twice.
Dr. Orduz has performed in festivals such as the ¨Piano Extravaganza¨ (Iowa-USA), ¨Liszt Festival¨ (Iowa-USA), ClarinFest and ClarinSax Eafit, Festival Internacional de Clarinete de Bogotá, Festival Internacional de La Cultura de Tunja, Festival Internacional de Piano de Bucaramanga, Festival Internacional de Piano de Barrancabermeja (Colombia), and the Zamorelli’s Concert Series (Chile), among others. The Colombian pianist has performed as a soloist with the Eafit Symphony Orchestra, the University of Memphis Symphony Orchestra, the University of Iowa Chamber Orchestra, Amadeus, Medellín Philharmonic and the IMDE Chamber Orchestra. Dr. Orduz has also performed as a chamber musician and solo pianist in the USA, Italy, Malaysia, Chile and Colombia.
Her interest in piano pedagogy has allowed Dr. Orduz to present workshops at national and state conferences in the USA and Malaysia. She is the founder and director of the Pianissimo Foundation that organizes three concert series and a piano festival and competition (www.pianissimo.com) in Medellin.

“Jose García-Taborda is one of the most important musicians of his generation¨ wrote the newspaper El Colombiano in 2012.
García-Taborda plays a Yamaha CSGIIIL and is a D’Addario Woodwinds artist currently getting his artist diploma at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh with Ron Samuels. He teaches at the Academia Filarmónica de Medellín AFMED and previously taught at Universidad EAFIT, Fundación Universitaria de Bellas Artes, Fundación Nacional Batuta and as a guest at Javeriana University, Cauca University, Francisco de Paula Santander University, Autónoma University, Brazil, Argentina, Panamá, Ecuador, Mexico and Florida.
Garcia-Taborda has played several times with the Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Eafit Symphony Orchestra, he is also the founder of the Cuarteto de Clarinetes de Medellín, the dúo “prá”, aNa´s TríO, Cuarteto de Clarinetes de Bellas Artes, Cuarteto de Clarinetes de EAFIT, Ensamble Mandala and the Ensamble de Música Nueva. Garcia-Taborda has recorded several pieces by Colombian composers such as Sonatina para dos Clarinetes by Roberto Pineda Duque (2009), the trío Anthophora by Victor Agudelo (2013), and Muerte en la Calle by Jorge Andrés Arbelaez. In 2014 he premiered the “Suite N°2 for Clarinet and wind ensamble” as a soloist in Ecuador and Colombia by Colombian composer Jhonny Pasos.
García-Taborda organized the Día del clarinete EAFIT 2008, the Festival internacional de clarinete y saxofón ClariSax 2008-214 and the Campamento de verano Bellas Artes Guatapé 2012. He is a Licentiate of the Royal School of Music and did his masters at Eafit University under the guidance of Javier Asdrúbal Vinasco.
